We took the kids to a concert and fireworks at Wolftrap last night by the President's Own Marine Corps band. We were quite wary, as it started thunderstorming just as we pulled into the parking lot. Luckily we arrived quite early and had our picnic in the car while we waited for the rain to slow down. Tom and I were able to hear most of the concert, in between all the bathroom trips. While the kids were interested in the instruments, they were much more impressed with the light stick we bought them (how else can you keep an eye on them in the dark??). Rachel did NOT like the fireworks and buried herself in our laps. Thomas however, immediately started yelling with glee. The best phrase I heard from him: "This is just like lava!!"
Now that preschool is finally over for us for the year, I finally have some time to work I things I want to do. This morning already I finished 2 layouts and altered a picture frame. I spent the better part of the past two weeks putting together scrapbooks for each child, plus the regular craft activities. Here's a picture of my class on the last day holding up their names from our morning attendance:
And, Tom returned Friday from a week-long trip to Japan. He brought presents for everyone, of course, including these cute jammies for the kids and lots of cool paper for me!
