Now that the summer's coming to a close, I was thinking about what I'm going to miss as the days get longer.
1. Flipflops. that's all I wear in the summer. O.K., through most of the fall & spring as well, but they're really a summer thing.
2. Grilling outside. Best part of summer cooking. And if you've never done pizza on the grill, you're really missing out. Seriously.
3.Fresh food at the farmer's market. Luckily this'll go through October, but we all really look forwards to the Saturday morning farmer's market in Burke. We've picked up some of the best tomatoes I've ever tasted, as well as cheese curds, yogurt, buffalo steaks, and peaches. Mmm...
4. Summer reading by the pool. Got a lot of this done while the kids had swim classes. Lots of fun, quick beach reads sitting under an umbrella.
5. Sleeping in. O.K. not that this happened much, if at all thank to the kids. But at least the potential was there. Now the kids are back in school and the alarm goes off every morning whether I'm ready or not. Or, really whether they're ready or not (and in the case of Thomas, it's usually not!).
