The summer is winding down, the heat just lingers and school is just around the corner. One week left.
Rachel finished her second week-long fencing camp and is now signed up to join Thomas in the intermediate class. Which means we had to buy her equipment. Which is not cheap. Ouch. At least she got a pink fencing bag out of the deal - she's real happy about that.
Saturday I took Karen's grungy Tim Holtz-inspired class at ScrapbooksPlus. It was quite fun - and very messy. In fact I think I still have some distress ink on my fingers. It was a good way to get back into the swing of things and motivate me to do a bit more scrapping at home.
However when I got home Saturday afternoon there was a different kind of mess to create -- putting together two raingutter regatta boats for Sunday. I know, the kids are supposed to be creating these. They did come up with the concepts and we tried to get them to use the spray paint -- but it's really hard for them to depress the button. We used one of the new skins from the Boy Scout store on Rachel's boat. They're like temporary tattoos, only larger. And trickier to apply. Matter of fact I think I still have a piece on my hands, too.
Sunday was the big day. After a struggle getting the gutters set up the races were on! Thomas came in second out of the pack, and Rachel won first place out of the three siblings that competed.
