Where did the past month go? Well.... lots and lots of preparing for CHA (the Craft and Hobby Association). This year I not only worked in the ScraPerfect booth but helped with the set up. It was funny, after spending some of Friday and lots of Saturday on the floor setting up it was weird to show up Sunday morning and see red carpet aisles where there had been concrete before. Actually, it threw me off and I repeatedly kept missing the aisle I was looking for.
I also ran and particiapted in this year's Designer Gallery. We had a great group of companies who were very generous. ScraPerfect, Clearsnap, Brooke International, Globecraft Memories, Justrite Stampers, the Robin's Nest, Wescott, Makin's Clay and RubberStampConcepts.
I had high hopes of blogging during the conference, but Mariott really thwarted my efforts. Their "high speed wifi" wasn't and didn't like me trying to download or upload files. Grrrr. And I really didn't want to pay an additional $2 a minute to use the FedEx computers. So.... better late then never!
Here's a few projects I did for the booth:
I used paper from the Robin's Nest along with some cardstock as the base of this layout. On a white piece of cardstock I used stamps and ink from Clearsnap (jumbo Rollergraph stamps), and Justrite stamps to create random patterns. I then cut a bracket shape from the paper. Using a ink daubber, I applied cranberry ink from Clearsnap around the edges, the added a black border with my Faber-Castell big brush pen.
On top of this I layered a piece of kraft paper, stamped with more Clearsnap stamps, a doily, more Robin's Nest paper, dictionary paper, then my photo. I used a variety of stamps on black Makin's Clay. If you use ScraPerfect's Perfect Crafting Pouch on your stamps first, the clay does NOT stick to your stamps. Genious!
After the clay dried I punched out a heart shape then inked it with Colorbox pigment ink and a bit of their Smooch ink. I wiped the heart after applying the ink for a subtle effect. The heart was adhered with a bit of the Best Glue Ever to a EcoArtboard tile covered with more dictionary paper. On top, a pretty chipboard flower from Globecraft. I really love the delicate shapes they have.
And a card ....
I started again with paper from the Robin's Nest. I applied the Best Glue Ever to a Clearsnap Rollergraph stamp and ran it over the paper. When you stamp with the Best Glue Ever it dries really fast -- and you get a nice, thin, crisp image. I used foil from Rubber Stamp Concepts over the glue. Fabulous!
For my border I had some wood veneer paper I'd been saving that I ran thorugh my Vagabond with a Tim Holtz border die. I stamped a sentiment with Justrite Stamps and used a matching Spellbinders die to cut it out.
And a mini canvas. I painted the canvas first then applied some heavy gel for texture. On top of that are several Donna Salazar Mixed Media Inks. I stamped an EcoArtboard tile then colored it using small sponges and nibs. On top of that is some wire twisted into a branch with Robin's Nest Dew Drops adhered with the Best Glue Ever.
