I just finished up an Introduction to Photography class with the Art League. One of the things I've really wanted to do was learn how to use my Nikon on manual mode. I'd read stuff online, set up a Pinterest board (well, mostly for teaching scouts), and played around a bit but never really felt comfortable.
If you live in the metro DC area, I'd highly recommend Peter Duvall's class. He made learning fun and unintimidating. He also teaches intermediate photography and a night photography class as well that sounds really cool.
Last weekend we did a class field trip to Eastern Market on Capital Hill. Despite my kids wanting to buy like, everything, it was a lot of fun. Here's a collage of my favorite shots, all manual, all SOOC.
